Marine Bar & Backpackers accommodation hostel and bar has been developed into a family-orientated bar and backpacker facility under owners Mel and Doc, with a sound reputation as a clean, tidy and fun environment.

The Marine Bar is a great place to unwind after a busy day, with its local beers and our friendly local people. The big-screen TV, pool tables, and sunny beer garden give you heaps of opportunity for fun.

Complementing our clean and quiet accommodation facilities are two bright and sunny lounges and kitchen areas for our guests, as well as laundry and Internet facilities.

A favourite for many guests is the north-facing first-floor verandah (below) - put your feet up and watch the world go by in this bustling village suburb.

The Marine's bar is light and breezy, and its handy location to the beach makes it a big attraction for the locals and visitors alike. Live music on Thursday, Trivia Nights, Pool Competitions, and $4.00 pints on Friday are just some of the regular entertainment not to be missed.

The Marine offers 40 beds in total, including four-person bunkrooms, double ensuite, double, twin, single and single ensuite rooms. There are also facilities for disabled guests. The photos below show a good representative sample of all our rooms.

A highlight at The Marine Bar is the unique garden area behind the main building and below the spectacular cliff face with its fascinating geology and rock shapes left behind by an ancient volcanic Banks Peninsular lava flow. It make an ideal, sheltered space to soak up the sun and make friends.
